Tech Tip : Stock Class Secret Weapons
- Remove the back fire screen from your air filter cage.
This increases throttle response and maximum air volumes at high RPM
- Insulate your exhaust header section. 1: this
modification keeps your header section super heated, which allows it to flow
higher volumes of exhaust gas more efficiently (very similar flow to a larger
diameter after market header section). 2: the second effect received
from insulating your exhaust header section is a dramatic reduction in heat
transferred to the engine return coolant line.
- Replace your stock chain with a lighter high quality
chain. example:250cc four strokes we prefer EK chains MRDL6 and on 450cc
four strokes we prefer EK chains MRD6.
- Change to a tubeless tire system. Some of these systems
reduce un-sprung weight and rotating mass by as much as 1.5 Lbs per
wheel creating better acceleration and handling .
- Verify your jet and carb settings each race day . Make
sure you check your pilot screw setting before each moto.
- Check your suspension linkage for any resistance or
binding BEFORE race day.
- Don't over fill your oil levels. Factory set oil levels
are chosen for maximum HP output and optimal lubrication.
- Don't add extra weight to your bike ! (Skid
plates, rock guards, radiator braces, triple clamps and all other forms
of anodized FooFoo parts), these parts will help in the event of
a crash, but they are all just extra baggage if you want the
hole shot and
the win in the stock classes!
